Load Shed Recovery With Transmission Switching and Intentional Islanding Methods After (N-2) Line Contingencies

Changing power system configuration may result in load shed recovery (LSR) because topology change can provide flow control meshed network. Some topologies favor generation redispatch as compared to others and eliminate line congestion which leads LSR. One of the known methods for is called transmission switching (TS) research conducted past showed that TS an effective means mitigating shedding. However, another method also exits it referred intentional islanding (IIS). In this manuscript, we explore IIS a potential solution based on generator coherency has been presented literature cascading failures. not explored solely LSR mechanism. paper, compare with well algorithm TS. The comparison performed IEEE 39-bus 118-bus system. results show perform better than terms computational efficiency
